www.bootdisk.com is the place to check out for many computer woes. Your computer crashed, or isnt starting up right? Want to get linux installed on that old computer you have laying around? www.BootDisk.com has all kinds of bootable downloads for you, from the old windows 95 days to mini distributions of linux. All you need to do is download one to a floppy, or burn an image to a bootable cd. Boom then you are off and running. Bookmark this site, it will save you time when you need to start fresh.

Price watching...

Let's say you are strapped for cash, and your old trusty computer takes a nose dive. Of course there are the IBM, Dell, Gateway, or many many other name brand manufacturers. They will all be in the 400+ price range, and come preloaded with AOL, and other fun stuff you probably don't want.

If you are tech saavy enough, you should head on over to www.pricewatch.com

There you can look for a barebones, no operating system, type of computer. For a few hundred dollars you can be back in action in no time. My only recommendation when buying from one of these discount suppliers is to give the store a call first. If they are helpful, friendly, and customer service oriented, you'll be fine.

If they sound shady, or you can't talk to a live person. Skip them. Best of luck!

DNS Stuff

You have to check out www.dnsstuff.com

They have a wealth of tools available to help people check on their domain names. From simple whois queries, that help people find out about who owns a domain name, to email checking programs to troubleshoot if it is your computer causing problems or the person you are trying to send the email to.

On an average day, I probably go to that website at least twice to check on new domains for clients, or to find out about other things. Bookmark it, and check out the many things available.

Bry.Net Alexa ranking 5,736,662

Check out www.alexa.com, its an Amazon.com owned company. It ranks webpages based on usage. If you have the Alexa toolbar installed on your computer it tracks websites that you go to. Then everyone can know what is the most popular website out there.

I can be called spyware, but only if you care that its sending stats back. Its not really tracking your individual usage, but more working as a team colaboration.

What I think everyone should do though, is download the toolbar, then surf on over to bry.net. If you dont have time to do that, you should at least check for your listing and update the information.

Have you seen www.a9.com? That is A Nine. If you haven't check it out. Its a search engine, with perks. When you first visit the site, it looks a little confusing, but don't despair, search for something. Then after you've searched, it will return the results. On the far right hand side is a thing called columns.

There are tons of columns available, you need to create a quick profile to customize which you see. You can then turn on and off those columns on demand. It is all done with Dynamic HTML, and CSS. So your search term is now able to search many sites all at once.

Give it an honest try. I like it so much at this point, I may just make it my starting homepage. Enjoy!
